Poll code misconduct: EC warns Maneka

New Delhi: The Election Commission has strongly condemned the impugned statements of senior BJP leader and Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi. At an election rally in Sarkota village of Sultanpur in April, she had categorised voters according to the percentage of votes polled in her favour and said it would reflect in her work for them.The Commission has now warned her not to repeat such misconduct in future.The Commission in its order said, the statement by Maneka violates the Model Code of Conduct. The order said, she was barred from holding any public meetings, road shows and interviews and public utterances in media for 48 hours on the 16th of this month for violating the poll code earlier. This is her second violation.
